Life in Portugal, preparing for the European Champs
Hey.. Last time I updated this I was enjoying the summer weather in Weymouth, spending every minute on the water, that seems like a long long time ago now!!
I am now in Vilamoura, Portugal where yesterday we were told of confirmation that the European Championships in 3 weeks are going ahead. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed to see if we can finish this weird year with a competition.
The trip down to Portugal was pretty smooth, masked up, hand sanitisers everywhere and we took all our food with us so we didn't have to stop with the risk of Covid. I have to admit the second day of driving when all that was left was digestives biscuits , I was quite looking forward to some fresh food!!
Training in Portugal has been great so far, with 25 degrees and nice sea breezes perfect for RSX training and some foiling. And of course I've managed to sneak in some Wing foiling and attempts at surfing! A day out of the salt water is a rare occurence ;)
It has been great to line up against some foreign competitors - something I hadn't done since February, so I didn't know what to expect but its been fun and am enjoying the challenge!
I have been lucky enough to get a Wattbike, rowing machine and some gym equipment out here to prepare well and avoid any chance of catching or spreading the virus! So thanks to Wattbike Spain and British Sailing Team
Here are some pictures of the last month or so!
Now I have 2 more weeks of training before the Europeans that will start on the 23rd of November. I will keep you updated via my Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/emmawilsonwindsurfing
