Where it all started
Emma is now approaching the prime of her athletic career, but it all started a long time ago. From an early age, she was always passionate about sport and was particularly inspired by watching the Olympics on TV.
Almost as soon as she could walk, she would play on the water with her older brother Dan, and they would often sit and stand on her mum’s windsurfing board during school holidays as she sailed around Mudeford harbour.
She started windsurfing aged about seven, though wasn’t that keen preferring playing on the beach with her friends. But when she was about 10, as Dan began competing, she decided to give it another go.
To start with she focused mainly on having fun. However, after being selected for the RYA Zone Squad her confidence and enjoyment grew and her competitive spirit began to shine.
Barely 2 years later she won the U15 World Championship in San Francisco, and she started to believe that she might have a future in the sport.
Behind the scenes
Emma loves travelling, dog walks, bike riding, surfing and of course catching up with friends and family.
She is a professional athlete known for her authenticity, determination, and resilience. Passionate about the environment and inspiring others to stay active, she uses her platform to support sustainability, empower young people, and promote confidence through sport.
